How to choose the appropriate help?
There are one-piece systems in which the base plate and the bag form an integral part and two-part systems, where the bag and the base plate can be separated from one another.
We also distinguish between closed bags and empty bags. All modern aids are extremely lightweight, impermeable and comfortable for the skin.
A single or two-part system?
When choosing aids, the way of life should be taken into account. If you sit down or often get bogged down (garden work), it is more convenient to choose a one-piece tool because it is more flexible and softer than a two-piece aisle with a ring, or less impedes free movement. If it matters to you how much it is attached to your body and is well concealed, we also suggest a one-piece system. In the event that the skin is sensitive, we advise a two-part system because the underlayer is sufficiently modified after 3 days. However, the daily replacement of one-piece aids enables more frequent cleaning and ventilation of the skin.
Closed bag or empty bag?
In the case of colostomy, the ejection is round, shaped and usually emptied once or twice a day, therefore, for these cases, it is most often recommended to have a closed bag, which is replaced by the stomoder in the morning or in the evening. We advise you to have several empty-bag bags at home, since it is recommended that they be used in the case of diarrhea.
In the case of ileostomy, the ejection is less frequent, and it is produced continuously. In such a case, exclusive use of bags with a discharge opening is justified. The majority of the carrier ileostom bag is emptied daily 6 to 10 times, depending on the amount of the resulting feces.
Skin protection
When selecting the appropriate accessories, it is important to pay attention to the quality of the adhesive surface of the base plate and the fixing safety. The glue of a one-piece system that requires daily replacement should not be as strong as in the under-floor tiles that are worn for several days. The adhesive surface should be elastic and flexible so as not to interfere with free movement.
Discretion
The ideal material from which the bags are made prevents the spread of odor and the spread of sound, and ensures discretion. Therefore, in order for the skin to breathe easier under the bag, it is worthwhile to choose a bag that has an absorbent lid on both sides. For stem carriers, the prevention of smell proliferation is a critical factor. All newer bags have a fragrance filter. On the odor filter there is an aperture through which the winds can out of the bag, while the filter neutralizes unpleasant smells.
One-piece system
With a single-part system, the base plate and the bag form one whole. The adhesive surface ensures adequate holding, moisture absorption and gentle removal from the skin. The bags are securely and hygienicly attached to the backing. The one-piece system can be changed daily in the morning or in the evening.
Two-part system
In the case of a two-part system, the base plate and the bag are separated. The adhesive tile adhesive protects the skin and allows the tile to be worn without change for up to 3 days. The bag is fastened to the base plate by a plastic ring and is further strengthened by a lock-click security system (Coloplast prevents unintentional separation of the bag from the base plate. The bags are simply changed according to individual needs by unlocking the "click" of the system.
Stoma-seal with filter
Stoma-closers serve to cover the stoma in situations where you want extra discretion and free movement, such as showering, swimming in the sea and pool, sports activities or during intimate relationships. They come in as one-part and two-part, and can be used by carriers of colostomy or ileostomy.
Helped to code the waves
One-piece or two-part uroasting systems have a drain hose that can be handled easily and safely and is welded with a reliable plug. The non-return valve contained in the bag prevents it from returning to the stomach in the lying position of the urine and pours the surface for adhesion or irritation of the skin. The ideal hydrocolloidal adhesive surface of the urofoil aids provide protection against the corrosive effect of urine that is continuously collected throughout the day.
Use of stomach tools
After the stoma increased personal hygiene and regular body washings are gaining a greater role in your life. To replace the accessories, prepare everything you can need: a new stoma bag, a skin cleanser, a towel, a scissor-tipped scissor, a template, stomach tray, a garbage bag, possibly a mirror, to better see your stomach.
Installing a one-piece system
• Leave enough time to replace the bag.
• Prepare everything you need before replacing it.
• Take the template and measure the size of your stem.
• Cut the hole on the adhesive surface according to the size of your stem, to ensure perfect fit.
• Replacing the bag is easier in a standing position.
• Carefully detach the used bag.
• Dispose of waste material in the waste bin.
• The skin should be clean and dry before installing a new device.
• Use a soft towel to wash your skin.
• If there is a need to grow hair around the stoma, cut it.
• Remove the protective film from the adhesive surface, holding the "ear" pad.
Place the aids on the skin starting from the bottom of the stoma.
• Press the fingers against the adhesive surface at the edges of the stoma, ensuring a seal-tight attachment to the skin.
Installing the underlayer
To prevent leakage or separation of the underlayer, it should be changed after 3 to 4 days. It is important that the underlay plate is positioned exactly around the stoma, while helping the stomach tray. Skin condition is influenced by climate, nutrition and individual therapies, and it is usually necessary to replace the aids more often. A common or early replacement of the base plate can damage the skin equally.
• Measure the exact size of the stem with the template.
• Cut the base plate to the exact size and shape of the stoma so that it would perfectly fit around the stoma. Slicing with a tipped tip is recommended for cutting.
• The skin around the stoma should be clean and dry when attaching the base plate.
• After removing the protective film, place the underlay plate around the stoma, then press the fingers downwards and align the tile to the skin.
Replacement of the stoma-bag
• Make sure the ring closure is in the open position.
• Place the bag on the bottom plate with the fingers on the bottom up slightly.
• Closing is complete when you hear a mild "click".
Emptying open-end bags and bag-bags
You can empty the bags by sitting or standing in the toilet, discharging it directly into the shell or a suitable bowl (from which you can easily pour the feces, or urinal into the toilet). Prepare the necessary tools for the procedure. Put the lower opening of the pouch into a toilet bowl or container and then open the drain. Before the opening process, tilt the bottom of the bag slightly, since the contents do not spill quickly after opening. When the bag is open, point the opening down and gently push the bag to make it easier to exit. When the bag is empty, clean the drain. You can rinse it with water, wipe it with a paper towel or toilet paper. Carefully back the drain. By combining the urinal of the sachet with the urinary tract of the urine you can avoid the night drainage of the sachet.
Removal of accessories
Carefully and slowly, holding the upper end, remove the skin from the skin or the adhesive surface of the one-piece pouch, and at the same time keep your skin taut with the other hand.
Handling with a used bag
Empty the feces in a toilet bowl and wrap the empty bag in newspaper paper or garbage bag and throw it in a waste bin. In no case do not throw the stoma bag in the toilet bowl, causing congestion!
Scents and winds
Most stem carriers take care of unpleasant smells. The material of modern stoma bags is perfect seal, so the scent of the feces or urine stays inside the bag. They also have a built-in odor filter, which has an opening through which the neutralized gases from the gut can out of the bag. If you keep the bag clean and properly applied, then you can feel the smell exclusively during the replacement or emptying of the bag. If you notice the occurrence of odor and other occasions, then check the bandwidth of the bag. After a few hours, urine may have a severe odor of ammonia.
Terms of storage
Therapeutic stomach accessories should be stored in a dry place in a horizontal position. Optimum storage temperature is less than 20 ° C. The heat shortens the lifespan of self-adhesive aids. The ideal air humidity ranges between 40% and 60%. The moist environment adversely affects the adhesion properties. If the aid with the self-adhesive surface does not store in a horizontal position, its adhesion to the skin will not always be optimal. In addition to careful storage, it is possible to optimize the time of use and the performance of the aids.
Practical advice
When leaving home, always bring with you a pre-cut stoma-bag and toiletries just in case.
